california weekend

I am back home now and good thing the weather is sunny otherwise I would be in a serious vacation is over denial funk!

The trip was great. We went to the beach, laid by the pool, visited the local farmers market where I loaded up on strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and cherries. On Saturday we went for a hike in the Pacific Palisades and once the clouds broke, we had amazing views of the water. If you are going to do a 6 mile hike on vacation, staring at the beautiful ocean is definitely the way to go. We had brunch at Milo + Olive, where I had crispy farro with kale, radishes, feta and a poached egg. I'm still thinking about it.

I have been back for two days and I am already planning my next vacation. It is amazing how a little time off can really rejuvenate you, especially as a parent. It's hard to say what the best part was. My grapefruit rosemary cocktail, eating cherries by the pool, pumping in the car while Meaghan drives through LA traffic, dinner in Malibu, spotting Blythe Danner at Peet's Coffee, the free champagne and chocolate covered strawberries that the hotel provided, having lunch with my an old college friend at Umami Burger, Meaghan's sandal breaking while walking on the crowded pier (I hope you keep those $8 white glittered flip flops forever!), or drinking champagne and eating Swedish fish in bed while watching a movie.

Thanks for the great trip Meaghan! Now back to reality....
